In 2019, we traveled to Argentina with just a camera and a name: Luis Benz. Years earlier, Santiago had randomly met and become friends with Luis, a self-taught sign painter with over 50 years of experience, working entirely by had. He welcomed us into his world without hesitation, sharing not only his craft but also the story of his beautiful, difficult life.

For the film, we asked Luis to paint fifty signs — fifty words that held meaning for him. We filmed each stroke, listened to his stories, and watched his life unfold through the work. The result was deeply personal: every sign a window into who he is.

The experience has stayed with us. To be invited so openly into someone’s life is rare and unforgettable.
